24 Reasons is a nonprofit foundation built on a simple belief:
We create spaces, events, and programming that raise awareness about the struggles our student athletes face, and create safe spaces for them to feel comfortable to talk about them with others.
Tell Your Reason
Most student athletes have never been told it's okay to talk about what they're going through - we are normalizing the act of speaking up.
Find Your Reason
This pillar is focused on helping student athletes identify the people, the passions, and the purpose that make life worth fighting for.
Step Into The Reason
There's a gap between knowing you need help and actually asking for it. Helping student athletes identify support is crucial.
Be The Reason
This pillar is for every coach, teacher, parent & friend who may have sensed a student struggling but didn't know what to say.
Find Your Reason
When you're in a dark place, your brain focuses on every reason things aren't okay. It forgets the people, the passions, and the purpose that make life worth fighting for. This pillar is about retraining that instinct. We started with a sweatshirt that had 24 lines on the back for people to write their reasons down. That idea still drives everything we do: help people see what's still there, even when it doesn't feel like it.
Tell Your Reason
Most student athletes have never been told it's okay to talk about what they're going through. The culture says toughen up, push through, don't let anyone see you struggle. This pillar breaks that pattern. Through storytelling, real conversations, and platforms that give people a safe place to speak, we're normalizing something that should have never been taboo in the first place. Every story shared out loud is one less person who thinks they're alone.
Step Into Your Reason
There's a gap between knowing you need help and actually asking for it. That gap is where people get stuck. This pillar meets them right there. It's not about a dramatic intervention or a public announcement. It's about one small, brave step. Talking to a coach. Texting a friend. Saying "I'm not okay" to one person you trust. Not everyone needs to know. Just a few good people.
Be The Reason
This pillar is for every coach who's wondered if their player is okay, every parent who's noticed something but didn't know what to say, every teammate who felt something was off but stayed quiet. You don't need training or a degree. You just need to care enough to ask and stay for the answer. Be the person who checks in. Be the resource that shows up. Be the reason someone didn't have to face it alone.
Every year, 24 Reasons hosts the Be The Reason Celebrity Basketball Game, bringing athletes, celebrities, and the Louisville community together for a night that proves sports can be a vehicle for something bigger than a score. But the work doesn't stop when the buzzer sounds.
We're creating awareness year-round through storytelling, social media, public speaking, and partnerships that put mental health conversations in front of the people who need them most.
And we can't do any of it alone. This movement grows every time someone shares a post, starts a conversation, shows up to the game, or decides to back this mission with their dollars.
There's no minimum commitment. There's just showing up however you can.

If you're a coach, school administrator, or community leader, let's talk about how 24 Reasons can show up for your athletes.
These conversations are important and often the first step to initiating them is to let these kids and young adults know that it's okay, not to be okay.
This is just the beginning.
From school-based programming to athlete-led storytelling to a community that shows up year after year, 24 Reasons is building the infrastructure to make sure no one has to carry it alone.
Every dollar, every volunteer hour, and every person who shares this mission helps it get there faster.
Every person who backs this mission helps it reach a locker room, a classroom, or a kid who needed to hear it today.
